Special Event Information

To host a special event on city property in East Grand Forks you are required to fill out the Special Event Application - Form Center • City of East Grand Forks • CivicEngage (egf.mn)   Information collected on the application includes the person and/or organization hosting the event, a detailed description of the event , a map of where the event is taking place or a map of the route for the event, and a release and indemnification agreement.  The City may also require liability insurance.  Please keep in mind that if your event crosses over into Grand Forks you are required to fill out their special event application also.   If you have questions about the City application please contact the Administration office at (218) 773-2483.

Special Event Timeline & Fees

Special Event Applications should be submitted a minimum of 60 days prior to the event.  This allows time for City Staff to review and make any recommendations, suggest any changes, if needed send requests to the MNDOT, etc to ensure everything is taken care of for the event.  This will allow time for staff to prepare cost estimates for items and staff time required for the event.  Contact the Administration Office with questions about possible fees for the event at (218) 773-2483. 

Additional Permit needed for Events on the River

If the event includes crossing of the river or is taking place on the river the Polk County Sheriff's Department requires an additional application be filled out.  The Polk County Boat and Water Division patrols the waterways in Polk County.  This application needs to be filled out for any crossing on the river, both open water and ice crossings.  Polk County Boat & Water Application This application is submitted to the Polk County Sheriff's Office for review.  They require the application is turned in a minimum of 14 days prior to the event.  Please contact the Polk County Sheriff's Office with questions.  They can be reached at (218) 281-0431.
