Bean & Winnie, the Library Guinea Pigs

One of the hottest attractions at the library are our guinea pigs, Bean and Winnie! If they have stolen your heart, like they've stolen ours, consider supporting them.

  • Aspen Bedding
  • Guinea Pig Food (Fortified)
  • Timothy Hay
  • Chew Treats
    Guinea pigs like to play and toys help their teeth, which continue growing their whole life.
  • Toys
  • Fresh Fruits and Veggies
  • Make A Monetary Donation
    A $20 donation provides a week’s worth of supplies for the guinea pigs.

Volunteer:

  • Cage Cleaner
    This includes tasks like removing and replacing bedding, sweeping & wiping the cage with cleaner, & refilling water.
  • Wash Bedding
    Taking home dirty guinea pig blankets & washing them.
  • Bring Fresh Food
    Like humans, guinea pigs cannot manufacture Vitamin C. Fresh fruits and veggies help provide their daily supplement.

Communal Grief

June 18, 2021 // The Library lost our guinea pig, Ivy, this month. One day, she was greeting patrons as they approached her home and the next day, she took ill. We found veterinary care for her and started her on a prescribed medical care plan. Unfortunately, it was not successful and the next day Ivy died.

Ivy is missed and remembered. The grief is real and so is the strength of community to help carry the burden. [...]
